Adobe is NEVER going to go back to the old model. The people who are holding out on CS6 are kidding themselves.
CC 2014 (CS10.2) or CC (CS7) can export into IDML (InDesign Markup Language) format, which CS6, CS5.5, CS5 and CS4 can understand and open. The only major issues I’ve seen are some easily work-aroundable video-card related glitches in Yosemite, and of course, the inevitable faulty-keyboard-to-screen-meat-to-hardware errors (i.e., user error). But what Adobe have done is to allow you to export a file into format that can open up in a previous version of the software. Pixel snapping behavior has been greatly improved by Align Edges and Snap. I’ve been using it for two straight years, and never once, never, not a single time (did I mention never?) had an issue related to licensing. It is a little hidden and very convoluted, but from Adobe home page go Products > Creative Suite 6 > Photoshop CS6 > Buy CS6 > Photoshop CS6> Buy ($699) and where it says "I want to buy: Full" click on "Full" dropdown menu and choose "Upgrade", then choose CS5 from the "I own" dropdown menu. (You can still upgrade from Photoshop CS5 to CS6. It is however difficult to find the web page containing the advertisement - perhaps Adobe do not really want you to purchase it!!! So, if you only have Photoshop CS5, then you won’t have to worry about paying for an upgrade until next year when it goes to Photoshop CS6. Note, however, that Photoshop CS5 did not get the CS5.5 upgrade treatment. But CS6 is available as an upgrade for about £200. It looks like those of you who purchased CS5 products on or after Mawill be eligible for a free upgrade to CS5.5.
